Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced on Tuesday that he had requested answers from the responsible institutions regarding the murder of Arlinda Zekaj in Peja. Kurti emphasized that he had given the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice 54 hours to complete a report aimed at identifying possible institutional failures.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice have 54 hours from this moment. This follows last night’s session, when the resolution was adopted with 67 votes, and I said they had 72 hours. Naturally, measures will also be taken in accordance with the law and regulations. We will do everything we can and know how to do, but speed is now the priority,” Kurti stated.
He stressed that the report must fully clarify the circumstances of the case. Kurti said that reform of the justice system could no longer be postponed, referring to the European Union’s repeated criticism of Kosovo in this area.
“Reform of the justice system is not only important, but urgent,” Kurti emphasized.
He called on the responsible institutions to act swiftly and ensure accountability for any potential failures.
