The Albanian Telegraphic Agency has held professional training with Germany’s Deutsche Presse-Agentur on verifying digital content amid growing challenges from artificial intelligence.
Led by Deutsche Presse-Agentur journalist Stefan Voss, the session brought together 11 agency journalists and translators. Participants examined methods for detecting manipulated images and videos and checking the authenticity of online material.
The training covered reverse image searches, video analysis and the verification of content shared on social media or provided by eyewitnesses. Practical exercises helped participants assess sources, compare evidence and establish the context of visual material before publication.
Trainers stressed that technology supports journalistic work but cannot replace critical analysis and professional judgment. Context, source credibility and careful examination remain essential to accurate reporting.
The cooperation between the two agencies spans more than 30 years of information and professional exchange. Both also participate in the European Newsroom, a platform that brings together European news agencies to strengthen cross-border cooperation and professional standards.
Founded in 1949, Deutsche Presse-Agentur is Germany’s largest independent news agency, with a network of correspondents in dozens of countries.
