Hoxha meets German lawmaker, calls for stronger German engagement in the Western Balkans

Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, met with German MP Peter Beyer in Berlin to discuss bilateral relations and Germany’s role in the Western Balkans.

Beyer is a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), which leads Germany’s governing coalition. He also serves on the Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee and has long supported closer relations with Albania.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed ways to strengthen Albanian-German relations and make better use of opportunities for cooperation. They also highlighted the need for stronger German engagement in the Western Balkans.

Furthermore, Hoxha and Beyer exchanged views on recent developments in Albania and the country’s progress towards European Union membership.

Against the backdrop of wider strategic changes in Europe, they stressed the importance of maintaining a credible, merit-based EU enlargement process.

The discussions also covered the situation in the Western Balkans, particularly the recent elections in Serbia and their possible impact on regional stability and European integration.

Hoxha thanked Beyer for his longstanding friendship with Albania, his continued interest in the Western Balkans and his commitment to the region’s European future.
