Albania’s economy grew by 4.8% in Q4, beating expectations

TIRANA, April 1, 2023 – Albania, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 4.84 percent compared to the previous year, the Institute of Statistics said in its publishing of data on economic activity during the last quarter of last year.

This increase goes beyond the forecasts of the Albanian authorities themselves but also of the international financial institutions, which, despite the upward revision, estimated that the GDP would rise to 3.7 percent.

Meanwhile, according to a recent World Bank analysis, in January of this year, growth would be at the level of 2.2 percent.

The main contributor and with a stable activity was the Trade, Transport, Accommodation and Food Service section of the index, as well as Construction, the sector which, except for the second quarter, where it recorded a negative contribution, in the rest of the year, had a significant weight, together with the group “Real estate activities.”
