UN General Assembly/ Minister Hasani arrives in New York

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, has arrived in New York, to participate in a series of activities, within the High Level Week of the UN General Assembly (September 22-30, 2024).

Minister Hasani is expected to sign several agreements for the mutual liberalization of visas, in order to strengthen the Albanian passport in the world, one of the main commitments of the Albanian chief diplomat, since taking the mandate as Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Also, Minister Igli Hasani will have bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Egypt, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Malta, Morocco, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Cyprus, etc

. During the high-level week, Albania, through the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will organize and lead several meetings, as a member of the UN but also as the leader of regional initiatives such as: Adriatic Charter, Central Europe Initiative and the Cooperation Process of Southeast European countries. The high-level week started yesterday with the meeting “Beijing+30: towards a world with gender equality”, held in New York, where Minister Hasani underlined the policies of the Albanian government that promote the meaningful engagement of women in public life.

“Let’s build a future where women and girls are empowered to fulfill their potential and contribute meaningfully to the betterment of society. Together, we can create a fairer, more equal and inclusive world for all.”

Albania’s priorities during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly will be in line with the contribution made during the membership period in the Security Council (2022-2023) and include the promotion of multilateralism, support for the 2030 Agenda and the Goals of Sustainable Development of the UN.
