TIRANA, May 7 – The “After School” programme started its pilot phase in several schools in Tirana. Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro announced the launch on her official page. She said the pilot began this week after regular classes.
The programme includes activities such as dance, crafts, visual arts, and homework support. Kumbaro visited the “Androkli Kostallari” school on the outskirts of Tirana. She met teachers and students involved in the pilot.
She said the initiative strengthens education and community cooperation. A video from the visit showed students taking part in the activities. Parents described the programme as useful after school hours.
The Ministry of Education presented the framework “After School Education in Albania – Policies, Standards and Models for Inclusive Development”. The framework unifies extracurricular activities in schools. It combines local practice with international models, including “21st Century Schools”.
The programme develops digital skills, critical thinking, and social competences. It currently runs in 46 schools in Tirana. The ministry said the programme creates a structured environment for talent development. It includes arts and crafts, school gardens, sports teams, and community-based school activities.
