Deputy PM Koçiu attends World Urban Forum in Azerbaijan, focus on building safe cities

TIRANA, May 18 – Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu is in Baku, Azerbaijan, where she is taking part in the World Urban Forum 2026. The forum is one of the main international platforms on urban development, housing and city sustainability.

The event is organised under the auspices of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. It brings together global leaders, international institutions, experts and policymakers. They discuss challenges and solutions linked to urbanisation, sustainable development and the future of cities.

In her address, Koçiu will underline the importance of building safe, resilient and inclusive cities. She will link this position to global challenges in housing, urban growth and climate change.

Meanwhile, she will also present Albania’s experience in urban transformation through the implementation of the national programme “Urban Renaissance”.
