TIRANA, May 26 – The Head of the Muslim Community of Albania, Bujar Spahiu, extended greetings to believers on Eid al-Adha. He highlighted peace, solidarity, and harmony as core values of the holiday message.
The message defined Eid al-Adha as a major Islamic celebration. It also emphasized sacrifice, obedience to God, solidarity, and love for humanity. Prophet Ibrahim served as the central reference point for faith, patience, and devotion to the Creator.
Building on that message, Spahiu said the holiday strengthens morality, responsibility, and humanism in daily life. Religious teaching, he added, rests on peace, respect, and universal human values. He also urged reflection on others and stronger support for families, the elderly, and people in need.
Attention then shifted to the social meaning of the ritual. Kurban represents solidarity, sharing, and care for others, according to Spahiu. He also linked the message to global conditions marked by conflict and uncertainty.
Against this background, he called for dialogue, understanding, respect, and unity in society. Religious harmony in Albania stands as a national asset, he said. The country must preserve and strengthen that harmony, he added.
Spahiu concluded by wishing that Eid al-Adha brings joy to every Albanian household.
In Tirana, authorities will mark Eid al-Adha on 27 May at “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard. The prayer will start at 06:30.
