The Albanian opera “Fundi i Golemëve” by composer Nikolla Zoraqi will receive its world premiere at the National Theatre of Opera, Ballet and Folk Ensemble in Tirana.
First, the opera was composed in 1963 and remained unperformed on stage for decades. Now, it returns as one of the most important works of Albanian musical heritage.
In addition, the libretto was written by Kolë Jakova and is based on the story by Dhimitër Shuteriqi. The opera will be performed on May 28, 29, and 31.
Furthermore, the production brings together the full artistic forces of the national opera house, including orchestra, choir, ballet, and soloists. The work presents themes of drama, heroism, and historical spirit.
Meanwhile, the performance will be conducted by maestro Zhani Ciko and directed by Nikolin Gurakuqi.
Finally, the revival of “Fundi i Golemëve” after more than six decades marks a historic moment for Albanian art and opera.
