Kosovo President Justina Shiroka-Pula issued a statement on Monday following the murder of a woman in Vitomirica, Peja, calling for an urgent, thorough and impartial investigation into the case.
The president stressed that the investigation should also examine how the victim’s requests were handled and the actions taken by the institutions responsible for protecting her.
According to reports, three days before her murder, the victim sent a letter to the Chief Prosecutor of the Peja Prosecutor’s Office, expressing dissatisfaction with the officials handling her case.
“It must be clarified whether all necessary measures were taken to assess the risk and ensure her protection,” the president stated.
Pula called on judicial institutions to act with urgency, professionalism and impartiality to ensure that all circumstances surrounding the case are fully investigated and those responsible are brought to justice.
“The safety and dignity of every woman must be treated as a fundamental institutional responsibility, and any suspicion of failure to fulfill this responsibility must receive a clear response,” she added.
“Protecting women’s lives is a non-negotiable obligation, and there can be no compromise when their lives are at risk,” Pula emphasized.
