Muslims Celebrate Eid al-Adha Today

Muslim believers across Albania are celebrating Eid al-Adha today, the holiday that symbolizes the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, the father of prophets.

Muslims across the country began the celebration early in the morning by gathering in mosques for prayers.

In Tirana, hundreds of worshippers performed prayers on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard.

The program in the capital started with Quran recitations by hafiz Enes Hyka, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Later, the head of the Albanian Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, delivered a greeting message and wished believers a happy Eid al-Adha.

“This holiday invites people to care more for one another, stay closer to their families, support the elderly, help people in need, care for orphans, and bring hope to every heart. Sacrifice is not only a religious ritual. It is also an act of solidarity, sharing, and compassion,” Spahiu said.

The program ended with the Eid prayer led by Bujar Spahiu before thousands of believers gathered on the boulevard.

At the end of the ceremony, worshippers exchanged warm wishes for a day filled with peace, love, solidarity, and sacrifice.

Eid al-Adha symbolizes the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. Major events connected to Islam’s history, such as the rebuilding of the Kaaba, the Hajj pilgrimage, and the name “Muslim,” are linked to this holiday.

According to Islam, the Eid prayer includes two parts: prayer and a sermon. On this day, believers sacrifice a sheep or ram in devotion to God. Families share the meat with relatives, friends, and people in need.
