Mirela Kumbaro said that Austria fully supports Albania in its European integration process.
She made the remarks during a working visit to Vienna, where she held a series of meetings with Austrian higher education and research institutions.
Kumbaro met with Austrian Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner, who leads Women’s Affairs and Research, to discuss higher education reforms, European standards, and university cooperation.
Both sides focus on strengthening academic exchange and sharing experience in higher education reform.
They highlight the cooperation model between BOKU University and the Agricultural University of Tirana as a strong example of international academic partnership.
Austrian officials express readiness to support Albania with expertise in revising its higher education law and in aligning with European university standards.
They also confirm strong support for Albania’s EU accession process and acknowledge the country’s progress toward the European Union.
Both sides note that education and research chapters are expected to be among the first to close in the accession negotiations.
Kumbaro also meets representatives of Austria’s higher education department and quality assurance agency, where discussions focus on university autonomy, internationalization, and modernization.
The Albanian delegation continues its visit with planned meetings at BOKU University to further strengthen strategic cooperation with Albanian academic institutions.
