Albanian MP in Serbia Shaip Kamberi urges Student List to accept Kosova’s independence

Shaip Kamberi, an elected Albanian member of Serbia’s parliament, questioned whether the Student List would change its position on Kosova after the new government takes office. He said Serbian politicians continue to use the Kosova issue for political gain. He also argued that nationalist voters play a key role in election results.

Kamberi urged the incoming government to change its political course and accept Kosova’s independence. He said the Student List includes academics and professors who should recognise the limits of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s claims over Kosova. Kamberi called for a new approach to relations with Kosova, citing its 27 years of independence.

His remarks come as Serbia prepares to form a new government following the October 25 parliamentary elections. Serbia still refuses to recognise Kosova’s independence, which Kosova declared on February 17, 2008. The European Union continues to mediate dialogue between the two countries.
