Traffic Lights Return to Vlora After 30 Years, Citizens Welcome the Change

After nearly three decades of absence, traffic lights have returned to several of the main roads in the city of Vlora. Citizens consider this a positive step for road safety, while drivers are facing the challenge of adapting to the new traffic rules.

At several intersections across the city, both vehicles and pedestrians have been seen trying to adjust to the new traffic regulations and road signals.

However, there have also been cases where drivers entered intersections despite the red light, creating dangerous situations in traffic.

On the Transbalkan Road and in other areas where the traffic lights have been activated, movement has become more controlled compared to previous days.

“We have become like the rest of the world. Yesterday we had two celebrations: Happy Bajram and happy traffic lights. We are finally like the rest of the world. It’s the simplest thing — people can cross comfortably and cars are forced to stop. I live in Italy, and there are traffic lights there; people are respected. They will learn to respect them here too.”

“It’s a good thing because accidents will be avoided. It used to be very dangerous. Four people from our neighborhood have been killed. Now we feel calmer and will cross the street without fear.”

“They did a very good job, it’s wonderful. Let it continue like this. Look, now the light turned green; before it was red.”

“Oh my God, Zeno, it’s the first time I’m seeing this. Now people can cross. Sorry, but it’s a good thing.”

“With the red light, because there were no road markings before, I’m not used to it. Now it opened. We’ve become like the rest of the world now,” said some citizens.

Meanwhile, drivers also expressed that installing traffic lights is a positive development.

“It’s a good thing; every improvement is for the better. We feel calmer. It should continue throughout the whole city.”

“Good job, bravo to the Municipality,” said drivers.

The return of traffic lights in Vlora is seen as an important change for traffic management, while authorities are expected to continue monitoring the situation in order to avoid problems and improve road safety.
