Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha condemns Russia’s warning to diplomats in Kyiv

TIRANA, May 28 – Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha reacted today to Russia’s warning for diplomats and foreign citizens to leave Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Hoxha described the Russian move as completely unacceptable. He wrote on social media that threats against embassies do not represent diplomacy. He said such actions amount to intimidation. He also said they violate international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

In addition, the foreign minister said Albania will not withdraw from Kyiv. He said Albania stands firmly with Ukraine. He added that the country will not accept intimidation.

At the same time, Hoxha said the response to the war cannot involve more violence. He also rejected attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Finally, the minister said the only path forward is to end the war and engage in genuine peace negotiations. He added that Albanian authorities clearly communicated this position to the Russian ambassador in Tirana.
