Rama: Zvërnec Remains a Protected Area and Will Continue to Be

Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama said Zvërnec remains a protected area and will continue to hold that status.

Rama made the statement on Monday during the 35th anniversary of the Socialist Party in Berat.

He said the government has taken strong action to protect nature. He pointed to the Vjosa Wild River National Park as a key example. According to Rama, the Socialist Party placed the park under protection and expanded protected areas across Albania.

Meanwhile, he rejected claims that the government is putting nature at risk. He said accusations against protected areas are driven by misinformation and political manipulation.

Rama also referred to the protest held in Tirana. He questioned why people were protesting and who had actually threatened biodiversity.

At the same time, he addressed concerns over Zvërnec directly. He said Zvërnec has always been a Category 5 protected landscape. It remains protected today. And, he added, it will stay protected in the future.
