TIRANA, June 3 – Albania has been elected President of Forest Europe for the 2026–2030 period. Forty-five member countries voted unanimously. The country will take over the role from Sweden. Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the decision. He said the outcome represents an important diplomatic milestone for Albania. He added that it strengthens the country’s international profile. Meanwhile, Rama said Albania will lead the organisation’s political agenda and ministerial process until 2030. He said the country will coordinate discussions and European priorities in the forestry sector.
At the same time, he noted broad international support for the decision. He said Germany and the United Kingdom backed the outcome together with other member states. Forest Europe is an intergovernmental process for cooperation on sustainable forest management across the continent.
