Visitors to Art Basel 2026 will see a public artwork by Albanian Prime Minister and artist Edi Rama. His bronze sculpture, Untitled (2026), is on display in the “Parcours” public art section at the end of Clarastrasse, overlooking the Rhine River.
According to The Art Newspaper, Rama presents a new monumental bronze sculpture based on drawings he created while working in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Meanwhile, Berlin-based Société Gallery announced last year that it had added Rama to its roster of represented artists. He is also represented by Marian Goodman Gallery.
Furthermore, Rama’s current exhibition, Chrysalizing, is on display at Société Gallery in Berlin until June 27. The exhibition features a series of new bronze sculptures. The gallery describes the works as dynamic forms that expand, twist, and multiply across the exhibition space and garden.
In addition, the sculpture shown at Art Basel is a variation of a bronze work currently exhibited in Société’s garden, but with a different surface finish.
Rama is a trained artist who graduated from the Academy of Arts of Tirana. Before entering politics in the late 1990s, he worked as an artist in Paris. Since becoming Prime Minister in 2013, he has continued his artistic career alongside his political role.
Moreover, his works have appeared at major international venues, including Centre Pompidou and the Venice Biennale.
As a result, Art Basel 2026 offers international audiences another opportunity to discover Rama’s artistic work on one of the world’s most prestigious contemporary art platforms.
