SASPAC Supports Municipal Participation in EU Programs

The State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination, known as SASPAC, continues to support Albanian municipalities in accessing European Union programs and funding opportunities.

Speaking at the meeting “Municipalities and Cohesion Policies,” SASPAC Director General Eridana Çano highlighted the agency’s efforts to help local governments participate in EU-funded projects.

According to Çano, SASPAC provides technical assistance, information, and training to support the preparation and implementation of development projects.

Furthermore, she emphasized the agency’s role in strengthening coordination among institutions and ensuring that projects align with national priorities and European Union policies.

Currently, 226 projects with a total contractual value of 44.6 million euros are under implementation across Albania.

In addition, Albanian municipalities are implementing 78 of these projects, representing a total value of 13.3 million euros.

During the discussions, participants also addressed several challenges facing local governments, including limited human resources, the need for stronger institutional coordination, and the development of more sustainable cross-border and regional partnerships.

As a result, authorities aim to improve local capacities and increase the participation of municipalities in European development programs.

Ultimately, these efforts are expected to strengthen local governance and support Albania’s broader European integration process.
