TIRANA, June 26 – Prime Minister Edi Rama gave an interview to Italpress journalist Anna La Rosa, and he addressed Albania’s EU accession process, the migration agreement with Italy, and domestic protests over a tourism project.
Rama said the EU accession process remains irreversible. He added that no actor can stop Albania’s progress towards membership. Meanwhile, he said crises also bring lessons and political reflection.
He described the migration agreement with Italy as an initiative based on goodwill and practical solutions. In addition, he said political disputes often delay decisions and create unnecessary loss of time.
Rama also commented on protests by the so-called “Flamingo Revolution” movement in southern Albania. However, he rejected the accusations and said they damage Albania’s image. He stressed that allegations require evidence.
At the same time, he said responsibility lies with those who make claims. He noted that no proof has been presented so far, and he confirmed that no agreement has been signed while negotiations remain ongoing. He added that no construction permits exist and procedures are still open.
Rama said he understands the concerns of protesters. However, he said the issue has moved beyond its original scope and developed into a broader political narrative.
