President Begaj praises Poland’s support for EU integration

TIRANA, June 29 – President Bajram Begaj attended the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Poznan Uprising in Poznan at the invitation of Polish President Karol Nawrocki.

During the ceremony, the participating heads of state adopted a joint declaration. They reaffirmed their commitment to preserving historical memory, defending freedom and sovereignty, and protecting the right of nations to self-determination.

Meanwhile, Begaj met Nawrocki on the sidelines of the event. The two presidents discussed bilateral relations and Poland’s support for Albania’s European Union integration.

In addition, Begaj thanked Poland for its continued backing of Albania’s EU membership process. He praised Warsaw’s leading role in promoting EU enlargement in the Western Balkans.

The Albanian president also highlighted Poland’s assistance to Albanian institutions through the exchange of expertise on aligning legislation with the European Union acquis. He said Poland’s democratic transition, economic development, and European integration offer a valuable model for Albania.

Begaj expressed confidence that Albania and Poland would further strengthen political ties and bilateral cooperation. Nawrocki reaffirmed Poland’s support for Albania’s European perspective. He also expressed readiness to deepen cooperation and advance Albania’s EU integration process.
