TIRANA, July 3 – Albania’s government will provide an additional €65 million to strengthen local government capacity and improve public services across the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu said the funding forms part of the 2026 budget amendments approved through a normative act. The package supports investment in basic infrastructure, expands municipal services, and strengthens local operational capacity.
Meanwhile, the government will establish logistics fleets in every county. The new equipment will support rural road maintenance, local agricultural services, territory cleaning, emergency management, and urban transport.
In addition, authorities will launch a pilot urban transport scheme with electric buses in 2026. The project aims to introduce modern public transport standards while delivering cleaner and more efficient services.
Koçiu said the additional financing will give municipalities greater capacity to provide faster and higher-quality services tailored to citizens’ daily needs.
She added that investing in local government means investing in better, quicker, and more citizen-oriented public services.
