TIRANA, July 8 – Albania has significantly increased its defence and security investments as part of its commitments as a NATO member. The additional funding supports the modernization of the Armed Forces and the strengthening of defence capabilities.
Finance Minister Petrit Malaj published data on defence spending trends, showing that the sector’s budget has increased from ALL 24.1 billion in 2020 to ALL 52.6 billion in 2025. This year, the budget has reached ALL 69.2 billion.
“Albania continues to responsibly meet its commitments within NATO by steadily increasing investments in defence and security,” Malaj said.
Meanwhile, the minister explained that higher defence funding has created opportunities to modernize the Armed Forces, improve operational capabilities, and strengthen Albania’s contribution to the Alliance’s collective security.
The published data show that defence investments have continued to grow in recent years. The increase reflects Albania’s focus on national security priorities and the fulfilment of objectives set within NATO.
