TIRANA, September 7 – A total of 20 wildfire hotspots were reported across Albania on Monday, according to the Ministry of Defense. Eleven remain active, while seven are under monitoring and two have been fully extinguished.
Local civil protection structures are working with the Armed Forces to control the fires. The military has deployed ground and air capabilities to support the operations. The main focus remains on Mount Dajti, where a fire is still active. Armed Forces personnel, ground vehicles and a helicopter are supporting the response.
A similar situation continues in Kryezi, Kavaja, where an Air Tractor aircraft has joined firefighting teams. Fires also remain active in the Lundre-Madhesh area of Mat, Dibra, and in Bardhaj-Myselim, Shkodra. In the Kalivac-Zimaj-Kashnjet area of Lezha, two Armed Forces helicopters are supporting firefighting operations. Another fire remains active in Kulumri, Fushe-Arrez.
Other active hotspots have been reported in Kropisht, Selenica; Vokopole, Polican; and Tërbun, Puka. Fires in several areas of Korça, Elbasan, Durrës, Kukës and Shkodra are under monitoring. The Driza-Peshtan-Frakull area of Fier is also under control and monitoring.
The National Civil Protection Agency is monitoring the situation in real time in coordination with prefectures, municipalities and other civil protection structures. Operational teams remain on the ground and on full alert, with priority given to protecting lives, homes and property.
