13th KoKo Fest closes in Korçë as festival announces winners

The 13th edition of “KoKo Fest,” the International Comedy Festival, has closed in Korçë after ten days of theatre, comedy and artistic performances.

The festival brought together nine theatre companies from Albania and the region, which filled the southeastern city with performances, humor and artistic energy. Throughout the festival, audiences enjoyed eight productions competing for the main awards, while another company presented a special performance outside the competition.

During the closing night, the organizers announced the winners. The Experimental Theatre took the top prize with its comedy “Babai,” which won Best Performance.

Viktor Zhusti also received a major honor and won Best Leading Actor. Luiza Xhuvani followed with the Best Leading Actress award, while the festival recognized veteran actor Ndriçim Xhepa with the Career Award for his contribution to Albanian theatre.

The jury then honored other artists for their work in directing, supporting roles, costume and set design, music and emerging talent.

– Best Performance – “Babai,” Experimental Theatre

– Career Award – Ndriçim Xhepa

– Best Director – Gent Bejko

– Best Leading Actor – Viktor Zhusti

– Best Leading Actress – Luiza Xhuvani

– Best Supporting Actor – Pjerin Vlashi

– Best Supporting Actress – Blerta Belliu

– Best Costume and Set Design – Iliriana Basha

– Best Music – Demos

– Best Young Actors – Antonio Tole & Silvio Goskova

– Youth Jury Award – “24 Hours in the Life of a Voter”

Meanwhile, Korçë Mayor Sotiraq Filo praised the festival for bringing theatre closer to the public. He said the event also placed Korçë at the center of Albania’s theatre scene for several days.

“Another festival has brought theatre closer to the public and kept Korçë at the center of the theatre scene for several days,” Filo said.

He thanked the participating artists, theatre companies and audiences for their contribution. Their participation helped turn the festival into another celebration of theatre in Korçë.

Furthermore, “KoKo Fest” created a space where established artists could share the stage with young talents. This combination gave audiences a diverse program and brought new energy to the festival.

As the curtain fell on the 13th edition, Korçë once again celebrated theatre through art, comedy and collaboration. The festival also strengthened the city’s role as an important cultural and theatre center in Albania.
