Prime Minister Edi Rama will meet political leaders and ministers at noon today, September 9, on the outskirts of Tirana. The meeting will focus on the Socialist Party’s priorities for the new parliamentary session. It will also address the government’s new political agenda. Meanwhile, Rama is expected to renew his call for closer communication with citizens. He has urged officials to listen more directly to their concerns.
The “Prania Besnike” initiative will play a key role in this effort. It aims to strengthen direct contact between citizens and local authorities. It also seeks to identify problems on the ground. The meeting comes just days after Rama met with the Socialist parliamentary group. During that meeting, he discussed new communication projects for the government and the party.
Rama referred to several initiatives. These include “Prania Besnike”(Faithful Presence), “BESA”, “Pasqyra Albania”(Mirror Albania) and “Shkalla e Meritës”(The Merit Scale).
According to Rama, these initiatives form part of a broader reform. The reform seeks to improve relations between citizens and the state.
Meanwhile, “Prania Besnike” has already started. The initiative takes place every Friday at 5 p.m. It follows the same schedule and location in every administrative unit across the country. The aim is to maintain direct contact with citizens. It also seeks to identify their concerns and address local problems. The new parliamentary session also comes with changes to the government. Klodian Spahiu has been appointed Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Spahiu replaces Evis Sala, who resigned.
In addition, territorial reform could trigger debate in parliament. The Socialist Party wants to reduce the number of municipalities. The opposition, however, wants to increase their number. The proposed territorial reorganization has already sparked protests. Several municipalities have opposed the plan. They fear that the reform could merge them with other local government units.
As a result, territorial reform is expected to remain a key political issue. At the same time, the government will focus on its new political agenda and closer engagement with citizens.
