Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj announced after the government meeting on Wednesday the decision to reactivate the Transparency Board for fuel prices.
According to the minister, this mechanism will serve to reduce the excise tax and lower market prices, which have remained at high levels for more than two weeks.
“Today, we made a decision to reactivate the Transparency Board for fuel prices. Until recently, we were undecided about re-establishing it, but given that the price has remained at 222 lek per litre for more than two weeks, we had previously decided that whenever it exceeds 220 lek, we would activate a mechanism to reduce the excise tax so that fuel prices can be lowered. The only mechanism for reducing the excise tax was the re-establishment of the Transparency Board,” she said.
