Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Natasha Ahmetaj, called for stronger transparency and consumer protection in the microfinance sector.

She spoke during the 28th Annual Conference of the Microfinance Centre. The event focused on the future of microfinance and its social mission.

She praised the sector’s role in expanding financial inclusion. She also highlighted support for small businesses and underserved areas.

Ahmetaj said microfinance should create opportunities for development, employment and economic inclusion. She noted that the Bank of Albania has introduced new regulatory and supervisory measures in recent years.
