Albania and Bulgaria discuss expanding cooperation in economy, energy and tourism

TIRANA, June 11 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Ferit Hoxha met in Sofia with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Mihaela Dotsova.

The two sides reaffirmed the strong partnership between Albania and Bulgaria during the meeting. They also confirmed a joint commitment to expand cooperation in key areas, including economy, energy, tourism and connectivity.

The officials underlined the importance of interparliamentary cooperation as a tool for strengthening bilateral relations. They also highlighted parliamentary friendship groups as a valuable mechanism for deeper engagement between the two countries.

Hoxha discussed Albania’s path toward integration into the European Union. He stressed the importance of continued support from European Union member states. He also emphasized the strategic importance of the European future of the Western Balkans for regional stability, security and prosperity, as well as for the European Union itself.

Both sides also highlighted the role of national minorities in strengthening people-to-people ties. They linked this role to the further development of cultural, historical and human relations between the two countries.
