The National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg” and the Krujë Ethnographic Museum remain among Albania’s leading destinations for historical and cultural tourism.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage of the two museums today, highlighting their appeal to both domestic and international visitors.
“Krujë Museum is one of our most visited heritage destinations, attracting 200,000 visitors annually,” Rama wrote.
The National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg” ranks among Albania’s most visited museums. It stands within the centuries-old Krujë Castle and opened in 1982. Its architecture resembles a medieval Albanian fortress. The museum focuses on the life and achievements of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero.
Meanwhile, the Krujë Ethnographic Museum features 15 rooms, each showcasing different aspects of the region’s social and cultural heritage. Both domestic and foreign tourists include it in their visits to the historic city.
Krujë has traditionally attracted visitors on day trips. However, the growth of accommodation facilities now encourages tourists to stay longer. The city’s traditional bazaar also remains a major attraction, with its narrow cobbled streets and shops selling traditional handicrafts. Still, visitors rarely leave Krujë without exploring its two museums.
