Albania reports 11.7 percent revenue increase in January–April 2026

TIRANA, May 25 – The Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj said economic indicators for January–April 2026 show positive growth. He presented data on revenues and public expenditure for the four-month period.

Total revenues reached about 275.7 billion ALL in January–April 2026. The figure equals 105.2 percent of the planned target. It is 28.8 billion ALL higher than the same period in 2025. It shows an 11.7 percent increase. Meanwhile, public expenditures reached about 221.6 billion ALL. They stood at 95.1 percent of the plan. They increased by 12.9 billion ALL compared to 2025. The rise equals 6.2 percent.

In addition, tax and customs revenues reached 171.6 billion ALL. They rose by 7.7 billion ALL year-on-year. The increase equals 4.7 percent. Customs revenues stood at 73.6 billion ALL. They increased by 1.2 billion ALL compared to 2025. They reached 96.8 percent of the planned target.

At the same time, value added tax on imports reached 49.5 billion ALL. It increased by 704 million ALL year-on-year. It also reached 96.8 percent of the plan. Excise revenues reached 20.4 billion ALL. They increased by 437 million ALL compared to 2025. They reached 97.5 percent of the planned target.

Malaj said the growth resulted from improved tax and customs administration. He also cited implementation of the medium-term revenue strategy.
