Renowned Albanian actor Birçe Hasko has died at the age of 84.
Hasko was born in Dukat, Vlora, on March 15, 1942.
After finishing high school, he worked as a teacher in Memaliaj. He also joined the city’s amateur theater troupe.
In 1965, he started acting studies at the Higher Institute of Arts, now the Academy of Arts.
After graduation, he became a lecturer at the institute. He taught acting and later received the title of professor.
Hasko performed more than 12 theater roles. One of his most celebrated performances was the role of Milo in the comedy Shi në plazh.
He also built a strong career in Albanian cinema and acted in more than 30 films.
His first film role was Sulo Ballisti in Kur zbardhi një ditë.
Later, he appeared in films such as Radiostacioni, Skëterrë 43, Gurët e shtëpisë sime, Dhe vjen një ditë, Shkëlqim i përkohshëm, and Kronikë provinciale.
In 1976, authorities awarded him the “Naim Frashëri” order of the second class.
In 1988, he received the title “Merited Artist.”
Later, in 2002, Albania honored him with the title “Grand Master.”
Hasko remained one of the most respected figures in Albanian theater and cinema. He also helped train generations of Albanian actors.
