Albanian Radio and Television Spring Festival stage design takes shape, Albi Çifligu: Tradition meets modernity

TIRANA, June 2 – Work continues at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet stage. The Spring Festival on Albanian Radio and Television approaches. Preparations move at a fast pace ahead of the two-night event.

Stage designer Albi Çifligu leads the visual concept. He focuses on detailed design elements. He aims to ensure a curated setting for the performances. Meanwhile, he said Albanian Radio and Television gave him the opportunity to work on the Spring Festival. He described the project as intensive and demanding. In addition, he said his generation carries a sense of nostalgia. He said this strengthens the emotional dimension of the work.

Çifligu said the design reflects the festival’s return to Albanian Radio and Television after 23 years. At the same time, it places the RTSH Symphony Orchestra at the centre of the concept. The team preserved the original visual lines of the historic festival. Later, it digitised them. It adapted them to a modern format. As a result, the design ensures continuity for future editions. He said the orchestra remains the “heart” of the stage.

The Spring Festival will take place on June 6 and 7. Meanwhile, Albanian Radio and Television channels RTSH 1, RTSH Music and Radio Tirana 1 will broadcast it live.

The festival marks a return to the values of Albanian Radio and Television. It aims to restore the connection between the public and the national broadcaster.
