TIRANA, August 20 – Albania’s inflation measured under the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices methodology used by Eurostat reached 3.4% in July 2026, according to data published by the Institute of Statistics, INSTAT. Food and non-alcoholic beverages made the largest contribution, adding 1.09 percentage points as prices rose 3.2% year-on-year. Meanwhile, recreation, sport and culture contributed 0.55 percentage points, with prices increasing 8.5% from July last year. Restaurants and accommodation services added 0.53 percentage points, with prices rising 3.6%. Transport contributed 0.39 percentage points as prices increased 4.6%.
Prices also rose for alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 4.5%. Education services increased 3.3%, while personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services rose 3.5%. However, consumer prices fell 0.1% in July compared with June. Information and communication recorded the largest monthly decline at 1.3%. Clothing and footwear fell 1.2%, while insurance and financial services declined 1%. Food and non-alcoholic beverages fell 0.9%.
At the same time, transport recorded the largest monthly increase at 2.5%. Rents, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose 1%. INSTAT data show that food and services remained the main drivers of annual inflation, while prices recorded a slight monthly decline in July.
