The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, met with UNDP Resident Representative Randi Davis to discuss cooperation in green finance, financial and digital education, payment systems, and support for SMEs.
The meeting focused on Albania’s latest economic and financial developments and the Bank’s ongoing initiatives. Davis praised the Bank’s efforts to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability.
Sejko highlighted price and financial stability as key priorities. He also stressed the importance of international cooperation in addressing new economic challenges.
The two sides discussed green finance and climate-related risks in the financial sector. Sejko stressed the need to promote green finance and strengthen the sector’s resilience. Davis expressed UNDP’s readiness to support initiatives that build climate and environmental awareness and capacity.
Financial and digital education also featured in the talks. Sejko highlighted the role of financial literacy in expanding financial inclusion and promoting the safe use of financial services. He also presented the Bank’s work on payment systems and cybersecurity.
Davis highlighted UNDP’s support for financial education among SMEs, particularly in improving access to finance and strengthening their capacities.
The meeting also covered Albania’s EU integration process. Sejko described EU membership as a strategic priority, while Davis stressed the importance of institutional reforms and alignment with European standards.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in green finance, financial and digital education, payment systems, SME support, and sustainable development.
