Bajram Begaj visited the Mediterranean University of Albania, where he met with academics, professors, and students. He also toured classrooms, IT laboratories, and medical science facilities.
During the visit, Begaj encouraged public and private universities to face modern challenges and prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
Moreover, he said universities must go beyond issuing diplomas. Instead, they should develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, digital culture, and entrepreneurial spirit.
In addition, Begaj stressed the importance of adapting to technological change without losing human values. He emphasized that young people must learn the difference between information and real knowledge.
Furthermore, the president noted that today’s labor market values practical skills and adaptability as much as academic qualifications. He also urged educators to balance artificial intelligence with human intelligence and ethics.
Meanwhile, Begaj described today’s students as the first generation that will work alongside artificial intelligence as part of daily life. However, he argued that technology cannot replace curiosity, empathy, ethics, or independent thinking.
At the same time, Begaj highlighted the importance of free thinking and public responsibility in universities. He said Albania needs institutions that produce not only professionals, but also citizens who debate with arguments and think independently.
Finally, the president praised the university’s modern laboratories, rich library, and internationalization efforts. He said these initiatives help prepare students for Albania’s future and for the European Union labor market.
