Begaj Highlights Rule of Law at Tirana Prefecture Centennial

President Bajram Begaj attended an event marking the 100th anniversary of the Tirana Prefecture, where he praised the institution’s historic role in strengthening public administration and connecting central government with local communities.

During his address, Begaj said that the prefecture’s establishment in 1926 reflected Albania’s commitment to modernization and the rule of law. He noted that the institution has played an important role in promoting stability, public order, and development over the past century.

Furthermore, the President highlighted Tirana’s transformation into Albania’s political, economic, and cultural center, describing the capital as a symbol of the country’s modern aspirations.

In addition, he expressed gratitude to former prefects, civil servants, and public administration employees who have contributed to state-building and institutional development throughout the years.

According to him, the right to express opinions and participate in public life is protected by the Constitution and should be exercised in accordance with the country’s laws.

Moreover, he emphasized that democracy and sustainable development depend on the shared commitment of citizens and institutions to uphold the rule of law and the public interest.

Begaj also reaffirmed his commitment to protecting constitutional principles, fundamental freedoms, and citizens’ rights while promoting dialogue and cooperation in support of national interests, European integration, and Euro-Atlantic values.

Finally, he called for higher-quality public services and stronger public trust in institutions, stressing that improving service standards helps strengthen citizens’ confidence in the state.
