President Bajram Begaj visited Slovakia. He met President Peter Pellegrini.
They discussed bilateral relations. They discussed Albania’s EU integration. They also discussed regional security as NATO allies.
Begaj thanked Slovakia for strong support. He said Slovakia is an important partner for Albania’s EU path.
He said Albania has made fast progress in negotiations. He said the goal is to close chapters by 2027. He said Albania aims to join the EU by 2030.
Begaj praised Slovakia’s support for reforms. He said Slovakia provides expertise and political backing. He also thanked Slovak citizens for supporting EU enlargement.
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation. They focused on energy, tourism, agriculture and health. They also included renewable energy and green transition.
Begaj highlighted the new direct flight between Tirana and Bratislava. He said it will strengthen people-to-people ties.
He said stability in the Western Balkans is important for Europe.
Begaj also met Prime Minister Robert Fico. He met parliamentary leaders as well. They reaffirmed support for Albania’s EU integration.
He also visited the “Gate of Freedom” memorial. He honored victims of communism.
