TIRANA, April 1 – Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja announced that the Archaeological Park of Bylis and Klos is entering a new development phase. The project will turn the sites into a full cultural and tourist experience.
At yesterday’s meeting of the National Council for Territory and Water, officials approved the development permit for the project. Implementation will start soon. The ministry finalized all administrative regulations to ensure smooth management and operation.
Gonxhja said the project, supported by the European Union and the Italian government, includes a new multifunctional center. It will host museum exhibits, cultural activities, an information corner, a bookstore and souvenir shop, a café, a conservation laboratory, and service areas for visitors and staff. The goal is to create a dynamic, educational, and tourist-friendly space.
The ministry also prepares a master plan for points of interest, improved access, parking, and security. The initiative aims to conserve heritage while promoting sustainable local development.
In partnership with the National Institute of Cultural Heritage and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo), the ministry focuses on research and tourism as tools for growth. Gonxhja emphasized that the project integrates cultural preservation with economic opportunity.
The new phase marks a step toward modernizing the sites and expanding their appeal. Visitors will gain access to a fully developed experience that combines learning, culture, and leisure. The ministry will continue monitoring progress and adapting management practices to ensure quality and sustainability.
