The Constitutional Court of Albania has approved a request for the establishment of a parliamentary investigative committee concerning the 2025 parliamentary election process.

The Court’s decision paves the way for the examination of allegations and complaints related to the administration of the electoral process, enabling Parliament to conduct investigations into issues raised by the opposition.

The request was submitted by opposition lawmakers, who have called for the verification of a number of alleged irregularities during the May 11, 2025 elections. Meanwhile, the ruling majority had previously opposed the creation of the committee, arguing that the necessary grounds for a parliamentary investigation were lacking.

The Constitutional Court’s decision is expected to trigger new political developments in Parliament, as both sides have indicated that they will continue their institutional dispute over the legitimacy and management of the electoral process.
