“Double Your Business”, Rama: 32 loans worth €5 million approved

Prime Minister Edi Rama presented the “Double Your Business” programme on Wednesday. He said the programme aims to support small and medium-sized businesses through financing at interest rates of up to 2%.

According to Rama, around 400 businesses are currently in the application process. He also said that 32 loans have been approved, with a total value of around €5 million.

“This programme was designed to support you, but the government considers it its own programme. The Ministry of Economy is on your side. Relations with banks can sometimes be very difficult for agricultural businesses, so the ministry will act as your intermediary and guarantor. Therefore, when an application may be rejected for one reason or another, the ministry will be there to support it, make the case for it and insist that it be financed.

When it comes to investments in rural areas, which we are interested in encouraging, in addition to the ‘Double Your Business’ programme, we also have the programme of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (AZHBR), so we can combine the two. Rest assured that you are not alone in this relationship. The programme we had previously faced the same problem. Under this programme, the government is also present between the individual and the bank,” he said.
