TIRANA, June 5 – Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Montenegro to take part in the EU Western Balkans Summit, which holds its main proceedings on Thursday in Tivat. Meanwhile, the summit brings together European Union leaders and Western Balkan leaders. It confirms the strategic partnership. It confirms the joint commitment to advancing the region’s EU integration process.
Earlier, Rama shared photos of the participating leaders from the opening reception held on Wednesday evening.
At the same time, the summit takes place six months after the previous meeting in Brussels. It will be chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also attends. In addition, leaders will discuss EU enlargement. They will also discuss the gradual integration of Western Balkan countries into EU markets and policies. They will also discuss the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Meanwhile, the programme begins with an official welcome ceremony hosted by Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic. Later, a plenary session follows. Leaders exchange views on shared European priorities. Leaders also exchange views on regional priorities.
The summit serves as a platform to address common regional challenges. It also serves as a platform to strengthen cooperation in security, stability and sustainable development. As a result, the meeting in Tivat forms part of the European Council Strategic Agenda 2024-2029. It underlines the EU’s continued commitment to the European perspective of the Western Balkans.
