The European Commission is expected to publish its 2026 Enlargement Package today at around 13:00, including its annual report on Albania. The report will assess reform progress, accession criteria and the challenges Albania must address on its path towards European Union membership.
For the first time, the package is expected to include specific roadmaps for Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and Ukraine. These will set out further steps and objectives for their integration processes.
RTSH reporter Denada Shkodrani told from Brussels that Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos will present the reports on candidate countries. Recent meetings with European officials have indicated no major surprises for Albania. However, the country must maintain the pace of reforms, particularly in public administration, the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organised crime, and the protection of democracy.
Shkodrani said Albania had received support for aligning its legislation with European Union law. Implementation and compliance with European standards remain key challenges.
The government aims to close another negotiating cluster this year and all chapters by 2027. It has set 2030 as its target for full European Union membership. The report will outline Albania’s progress and the steps that remain towards accession.
