FM Hoxha in Cyprus: European Union support, Tirana-Nicosia flights discussed

TIRANA, June 26 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos during an official visit to Cyprus. The ministers discussed stronger bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of common interest.

Meanwhile, Hoxha thanked Cyprus for its continued support for Albania’s European Union integration. He described Cyprus as an important partner on Albania’s path toward membership. He also called for closer cooperation in tourism, energy, technology and investment.

In addition, the ministers discussed the possibility of opening a direct Tirana-Nicosia air route. Hoxha said the connection would facilitate travel and strengthen economic and tourism ties between the two countries.

At the same time, Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s position on developments in the Western Balkans. He stressed that European Union integration remains a key factor for regional stability. He also said recognition of Kosova contributes to European security and stability.

Finally, the ministers exchanged views on security challenges in Europe and the Mediterranean. They stressed the importance of dialogue, cooperation and respect for international law in resolving conflicts. Hoxha also thanked Cyprus for its hospitality and continued support for Albania’s European Union integration.
