FM Hoxha in Prishtina: Kosova–Serbia dialogue central to normalisation, Albania reaffirms strong support

TIRANA, June 1 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha held meetings in Prishtina focused on Kosova’s political and institutional developments.

He met the new leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosova, Ardian Gjini, and congratulated him on taking office at a key political moment. He also praised former leader Ramush Haradinaj for his role in party leadership and state-building in Kosova.

Further, Hoxha underlined the need for swift formation of new institutions after elections. He called for responsibility from political actors. He also stressed consensus for key institutional processes, including the election of the President.

Kosova–Serbia dialogue remains the only path to normalisation of relations, Hoxha said. He linked the process to lasting peace, regional stability and European integration. He also stressed accountability for actions that threaten security and stability.

Earlier, Hoxha met Lutfi Haziri, deputy leader of the Democratic League of Kosova. He praised the party’s historical contribution to state-building and its Euro-Atlantic orientation in the spirit of Ibrahim Rugova.

Writing on platform X, Hoxha described Kosova as being in a key political and institutional moment that requires responsibility and cooperation.

Albania will continue to support Kosova in all state processes, he said. He reaffirmed support for democracy, institutions and development. He added that Kosova’s Euro-Atlantic path depends on unity, dialogue and coordination with allies.

Albania will remain Kosova’s closest partner and strongest supporter.
