TIRANA, June 5 – The Transparency Board set new maximum wholesale and retail fuel prices on Friday. The new rates entered into force at 1300 local time.
Under the decision, retail diesel prices under the SSH EN 590 standard cannot exceed 192 ALL per litre. Wholesale diesel prices cannot exceed 180 ALL per litre. Meanwhile, the board set the maximum retail price for petrol under the SSH EN standard at 172 ALL per litre. Wholesale petrol prices cannot exceed 160 ALL per litre.
The board said the prices will remain in force until its next meeting, when it will review any changes in market conditions. In addition, it reminded wholesale and retail fuel operators that implementation of the decision is mandatory. The board warned that authorities will suspend the activity of operators found in violation of the rules.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring fair competition in the fuel market. Meanwhile, the board said diesel for fishing vessels will sell at 96 ALL per litre under fiscal exemptions provided by current legislation on circulation tax, carbon tax and excise duties.
