TIRANA, June 3 – British media outlet GB News reports that Himara is strengthening its position as one of the Mediterranean’s emerging tourism gems. Interest from UK travellers in the Albanian Riviera is rising significantly. Journalist Sarra Gray cites Airbnb data showing a shift among British holidaymakers toward less crowded destinations. Travelers now seek unspoiled nature, authentic experiences and lower prices. The report says Himara ranks among the most in-demand destinations in this trend. It adds that Albania and Croatia also benefit from this shift in travel preferences.
GB News notes that UK domestic holiday searches have increased by more than 11% compared to last year. At the same time, European travellers increasingly look beyond traditional destinations. The report also shows a strong rise in interest for Albania. Himara records a 92% increase in searches compared to a year earlier.
According to GB News, Himara attracts visitors with crystal-clear beaches, hidden coves and mountain-to-sea landscapes. Prices remain competitive compared to many Mediterranean destinations. The area also combines natural beauty with historical heritage. It offers traditional gastronomy and coastal life. As a result, it becomes a stronger alternative to overcrowded tourist hotspots.
The data covers the period 21 June–22 September 2026 and compares it with the same period in 2025. It also shows growing demand for outdoor activities and authentic experiences. Meanwhile, other rising destinations include Novalja in Croatia, Portimao in Portugal, Estepona in Spain and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy. Finally, GB News reports a 13% increase in group travel from the UK to Europe. It says this trend strengthens Himara’s international tourism profile.
