TIRANA, June 30 – German media outlet HolidayCheck reports that Albania is emerging as one of Europe’s most attractive holiday destinations.
It highlights the coastline along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. The report points to the Albanian Riviera, especially areas south of Vlora and the Ksamil region, as key tourist hotspots.
Himara attracts many independent travelers known as backpackers. The area offers beach bars, seafood restaurants and local cuisine. Gjipe Beach stands out as a major natural attraction, with a bay surrounded by steep cliffs.
Saranda features a seaside promenade and beach clubs. Its location provides easy access to the Greek island of Corfu. Ksamil offers clear waters, developed infrastructure and organized beaches. Bora Bora Beach provides cocktail service on platforms above the sea, while nearby islands support day trips.
Durrës ranks as the country’s second-largest city. It offers wide beaches and high hotel capacity close to Tirana.
Albania’s landscape shows strong diversity. The Albanian Alps, also known as the Accursed Mountains, reach about 2,700 meters and offer lakes, hiking routes and alpine scenery. Shkodër provides traditional guesthouses and local cuisine. Lake Shkodër sits on the border with Montenegro.
The Blue Eye spring in southern Albania features turquoise water fed by underground sources. The Dinaric Trail crosses several mountain regions.
Cultural heritage includes Butrint and Berat, both important archaeological sites. Tirana hosts former communist-era bunkers now used as museums and cultural spaces.
The report also stresses affordability. Accommodation and food prices remain relatively low along the coast.
Direct flights from Germany to Tirana take around two hours. German citizens do not need a visa. Authorities describe Albania as a safe destination for tourists.
Albanian cuisine includes byrek, grilled meat, seafood and tavë kosi. Hospitality remains a defining national trait.
