Hasani in Rome: Italy’s support for Albania remains steady and concrete

Igli Hasani praised Italy’s support for Albania as steady, concrete and sincere. He said the backing extends across Italy’s political spectrum.

During an official visit to Rome, Hasani met senior Italian officials. They focused on Albania’s path toward European integration and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Hasani met with Maurizio Gasparri, chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in the Italian Senate. He also met Piero Fassino of the Democratic Party.

Fassino serves as deputy chair of the Defense Committee in Italy’s Chamber of Deputies and as rapporteur on the Western Balkans for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Hasani also held talks with Arnaldo Lomuti, head of the Italy–Albania Friendship Section in the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Hasani said the talks centered on Albania’s progress toward the European Union.

He highlighted the need to keep reforms and negotiations moving. He also stressed the strategic importance of bringing the Western Balkans closer to Europe.

He said parliamentary cooperation between Albania and Italy remains an important tool in that process. “Grateful for the warm welcome in Rome,” Hasani wrote on social media. He added that he looks forward to continuing these exchanges soon in Tirana.
