The General Director of the State Police, Senior Director Skënder Hita, participated in a roundtable discussion in North Macedonia on the continuation and expansion of the Joint Task Force Against Irregular Migration.
During his speech, Hita emphasised that irregular migration is closely linked to the activities of criminal groups, human trafficking, document forgery, money laundering and other forms of transnational organised crime.
“The Task Force is more than a cooperation mechanism; it is a concrete example of what we can achieve when our countries’ information, expertise and operational efforts are brought together in a timely manner,” Hita said.
He praised the results of the Albania–United Kingdom Joint Task Force, established in 2023 and subsequently expanded to include Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro. He stressed that this cooperation has strengthened the professional and technical capacities of the police through joint operations, training, real-time information sharing and investigations targeting criminal groups.
Hita also highlighted the importance of further expanding this mechanism, proposing the full participation of Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the State Police’s commitment to taking cooperation to a higher level and consolidating the Task Force as a strong regional mechanism for combating transnational organised crime.
